Library was founded in 1843 and it's residence is the Strakonice castle in present.
The library's current collection consists of more than 100.000 documents, mostly books, magazines and AV media. There is a separate musical department, a reading room and a public internet access. Smidinger's Library carries on an Information centre of the non-profiting organizations and EU.
