"Built as St. Philomena’s Cathedral in 1908, this structure retained cathedral
status until St. Cecilia’s Cathedral was substantially completed (in about
1916). In 1958 the name of the church was changed to St. Frances Cabrini, to
honor Mother Cabrini, the first American citizen canonized.
Designed by the notable Omaha architect Thomas Kimball, St. Frances Cabrini
Church is significant as an early work in the Spanish Renaissance revival style,
a style that reached its zenith in American architecture between 1915 and 1940."

The church is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
