Washington State, the only state named for a former president, uses a portrait of George Washington to form the state seal. Under the 28 story rotunda in Legislative building lies this gold bas-relief replica of that state seal, roped off so no one will walk on it.
The building was finished in 1928 and this seal is featured in details throughout the building, including doorknobs and stair railings.
