The Orakei Basin is a waterskiing area managed by the city of Auckland. The land surrounding the basin has been set aside as a small park area with a paved trail. The signs at the entrance to the paved trail indicate it is an off-leash dog area. No hours are posted for the trail, but a geocache along the trail is cached after dark. At least one entrance must be reached by descending a number of stairs. A couple was manipulating their stoller down the stairs, but it did not appear easy. The trail is about a half-mile long.
