61-63 HIGH STREET - This 15th century building was rebuilt in 1624 to include a Roman Catholic Chapel. It became the Royal Qak Inn after the restoration of Charles II in 1660. In 1843 the Railway came to Ware and much of the passing trade ceased. The Coach and Horses was converted to a Chemist's shop, then until recently a gift and curio store which has now closed. Currently the property is empty.
