The building originally housed a movie theater when it was built in 1949 and is a nice example of the Art Deco style. It fell on hard times in the early 70's and closed. In 1974 the fledgling ECHO Players purchased the building and started the conversion to a Live performance theater. The company runs the shows and the theater with mostly volunteers. Their 2007 - 2008 season, November to June, has 5 productions which is the average per season.
