The red torii gate in the Seven Seas Lagoon at Epcot is based on the one that serves as the entrance to the Itsukushima Shrine on the Inland Sea. The layout of the Japan pavilion is done in such a way to have all elements within view of the entry gate, which orients the person to his or her surroundings.
