On Oct 13/2007, Winnipeg opened the first new Fire Paramedic Station in 10 years. The 8,000 square foot state-of-the-art station was built at a cost of $2.2 million, and is strategically located to optimize fire rescue and ambulance response capability into Transcona, as well as Elmwood and East Kildonan. The station contains three bays and is equipped with Engine 21 – a Quint firefighting apparatus (combination aerial ladder, pumper and rescue unit) – and a district Medical Supervisor.
