From the The Minnesota Arrowhead Country , a guide specifically for
northeastern Minnesota, in the Two Harbors town section:
In 1888, the seat of Lake County was moved from Beaver Bay to Two Harbors.
Following the incorporation of the village in that year, many civic improvements
were undertaken. In 1906, a new courthouse (cor. 34d Ave. and 6th St.) was
completed at a cost of $80,000 ~ page 153
The 1906 courthouse continues to serve as the Lake County courthouse.
The court has remain basically unchanged since its construction except for the
dome which was open in the main court room when the building was constructed and was
enclosed in 1945 due to an acoustical problems. There was also an an addition to the building during the 1990s's which serves the Law
Enforcement Center. The courthouse was listed on the National Register of
Historic Places in 1983.
