This beach is great for shelling. The waves are big enough to catch small waves with your board and to bring lots of great shells in but small enough to sit in the water and enough them (unless it is high tide then it gets a little rough). This is a great family beach where the kids can shell, you can relax without crowds and the older kids and adults can do a little boogie boarding or surfing. The one thing to watch for is the current tends to pull you slowly towards the pier so keep an eye on the kids.
Other activities you can enjoy on this beach are beach volleyball, bodysurfing, shrimping or crabbing. Dogs are welcome on the beach year-round. Leash laws are in effect daily, except 5 a.m.-8 a.m. Dogs are expected to be under voice command of their owners during that time.
There are restrooms and changing facilities at the county park but not right next to the beach area. There are several nice sandwich shops and restaurants nearby and the place seems to be popular for weddings and wedding photos as we saw a few on the day we were there.
