The Navigator resides in the stair way leading to the second floor of the Edminster Student Union Building. This art was created as a guide to the original student union art gallery located in the building basement.

The Navigator was created as a guiding light to help people locate the Union Art Gallery located in the basement of the old Edminster Student Union Building. It was commissioned by The Citizens Council for the Arts (CCA)and created by a local neon artist.
When the student union under went a major remodel in 1997, the art was taken down and put in storage for many years. Time passed and an inquiry by someone who had view the neon, prior to it being removed, launched a search for the glass tubes. Remarkably they were found in a warehouse and were in good condition. The gasses were charged and the electrical cables replaced. The installation was completed in 2001 and The Navigator returned to guiding students through the stairwell of the Student Union.
