This monument was placed in the high WY desert, (Elv. 7000') during an 1873 government survey by the Department of Interior. It is hand carved from a stone post of hard native sandstone and has weathered 134 harsh Colorado winters very well. WYO is carved on the north face, and COLO is carved on the south face. The west side has 41 degrees NL carved into it and the east side has the date 1873.
