Invented by a Frenchman and then purchased by The Ohio Art Company, the Etch-A-Sketch was first put on the market in 1960. Since then, it has become a toy that everyone knows.
This device contains aluminum powder that sticks to a screen. Turning the two knobs moves a point that scrapes the powder from the screen, creating a black line. With a little practice, some very nice art can be produced.
Ohio Art Company has been in business since 1908. They make other toys and drawing devices. The Betty Spaghetty family of dolls is one of their products. Ohio Art is listed on the stock exchange but 60% of the stock is still owned by members of the original family that started the business.
