This lovely Children's Garden is the result of many years of work on the part of several master gardeners, who wanted to create an area where children could learn about the gardening process, and all that was involved in the care of a garden. They wanted it to be a happy, fun place for children, so they could learn while having fun.
The star of the garden is a Butterfly House, designed by Twila Hayes and sponsored by KAM Manufacturing (who makes products for Vera Bradley). It has pink sides and a bright green roof, and a netted garden behind where butterflies will live.
The Children's Garden was opened to the public in a ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 10, 2007, and featured a release of 200 Painted Lady Butterflies by the entranced children in attendance.
This Children's Garden will provide entertainment and education for children for years to come, thanks to the hard work and dedication of the Master Gardeners who graciously gave their time and effort to this community.
There is no cost to enter the garden, although they do accept donations to help maintain the garden.
