If, as you walk along Tremont Street along Boston Commom, and, above the usual sounds of cars and buses, you hear the sound of music from the Ansin Building at Emerson College, you have found the location of WERS. WERS bills itself as "Music for the Independent Mind" and plays a wide range of music.

WERS is a commercial-free radio station run by Emerson College, which has a strong program in the communications field. The signal from this radio station, unlike most other college stations in Boston, can be heard well into the metropolitan area (though usually weaker than the commercial stations).

How is the signal transmitted: By "Transmission Tower"

Favourite program or on air person/announcer:
I usually listen to "All A Cappella", a program that plays music of all human voice groups, and "The Playground" which plays music from children's programs including musicals, folk songs and television shows. However, the present program I'm listening to generally referred to as "daytime programming," is very good, playing an ecclectic arrangement of music that I haven't heard of before. Ben Fold's Five "Mess" is playing as I'm typing, and Bob Marley was played as well.
