This long pebble strewn beach is located on Point Wilson within the Fort Worden State Park. There's a historic lighthouse at the point, a Marine Center, a cafe, and a boat ramp available.
In fact there's so much to do at Fort Worden you should plan at least half a day here. The Fort sits on the bluff and you can rent the officer housing as vacation homes.
The beach is located at the point that the Puget Sound opens into the Strait of Juan de Fuca. From here you can see Mt. Baker, Vancouver Island, Canada, and more. Often military ships pass by en route to the Bremerton Naval Shipyard. Also on the beach are several old batteries built around WWI to protect the entrance to the Puget Sound. From atop Battery Kinzie there are great views of the beach and across the Strait.
The beach is very typical for Washington - a mixture of pebbles and sand, varying in size depending on how close or far you are from shore. From the pier you can see Seastars and bull kelp, an on the shore there are a few clam shells, and a variety of seaweeds that wash ashore. Look for agates mixed in with the pebbles.
