RAF Harrowbeer opened in 1941 and remained operational until 1950. It had three runways.
During World War II RAF Harrowbeer played host to around 70 squadrons from all over the world.
Although sited near the village of Yelverton, it was called 'Harrowbeer' in order to distinguish it from RNAS Yeovilton.
