This was a real unexpected gem. While with friends they took me up to East Tawas to stay at the Bambi for the night. The owner was very interested in what I was doing with waymarking. Very nice to talk to, had great conversation. They're so friendly there and the rooms were wonderful and upkept well. It was too cold to take advantage of the beach access, but we did go up the road to the lighthouse, which wasn't very far away at all. This is a must stop on your Michigan coastal trek north.
