This was the site of the 1st Nestl'e Chocolate Factory in the United States. It was located in the City of Fulton, New York.

When Nestlé began production in the United States, Fulton was home to the first factory built by the company. The factory produced several popular Nestl'e brand items, here is just a few: Nestl'e Semi-Sweet chocolate bars and chunks, Nestl'e Quik, Nestl'e brand hot chocolate and cocoa, and the one that was created here, the Nestl'e Crunch Bar!
Sadly, in 2001 the company closed the factory citing that the costs to restore and update the century old location were too out of reach. Factory employees hung the Nestlé company flag outside the factory upside down the day the closing was announced by company officials.
New investors have purchased the chocolate factory and were attempting to reopen as of March, 2006 as New York Chocolate and Confections Company. As of 2007 plans for the chocolate factory to re-open have fallen through, and remain unestablished.
In recent weeks, rumors have risen both here in Fulton and in the Ivory Coast, (where the investors in NY Chocolate live), that the
person selected to manage the Fulton factory has imbezzled hundreds of thousands of dollars that was meant to get the factory up and running again.
It is unknown at this time whether the factory will ever produce chocolate again, bringing that wonderful aroma that is so sorely missed back in the air over Fulton.
