This mural is located on Washington Street on the Vale Auto Body building. Plaque reads:
“Horses were brough to the livery stable where the ‘smithy’ not only forged the horsehoes but often doubled as the local veterinarian. Here a blacksmith watches as the horse reacts to his first set of shoes. Vale’s livery stable was located across the street from the Rinehart Stone House and can be envisioned through a likeness which stands there now. Travelers staying at the Stone House boarded their horses at the livery stable where fresh horses were also available for the stagecoaches and freighters. The Rinehart Stone House was built in 1872 and opened with a Grand Ball on New Year’s Day, 1873. People traveled from as far away as Boise to attend the event.”
