Sabula, Iowa's only island city, is set on the Mississippi River. With a population of less than 1000 and frequent flooding by the river, this community works close with each other to keep everyone happy. The VFW, located on a high point, becomes the locals gathering point during spring floods, or at least until it becomes flooded too. It is the start/finish point for their annual foot race, and a socializing point for the menfolk in the evening.
