Built as a twin building to the National Museum of African Art, the Sackler typically houses pieces from Arthur Sackler’s collection of almost 1,000 Asian art works.

Since the connected Freer Gallery is also devoted to Asian art, sometimes the Sackler is cleared-out for temporary exhibits. Regardless of what shows are going on at the museum, it’s still worth a visit for its interior architecture, much like the National Museum of African Art.
