The Siltcoos Canoe Trail begins at the largest lake on the Oregon Coast. The canoe trail quickly turns out of the lake onto Siltcoos River the and you begin an approximate 3 mile journey to the ocean. Be aware that here are seasonal restrictions on access to the end of the trail.

There are other access points to the trail besides this one and a short portage around a dam on the river.

The Oregonian has an excellent review of the canoe trail on their Oregon Live web site.

Parking/put-in/launching information:
Free Parking. The launch site is also used by power boats accessing the lake. Powered boating equipment is not allowed on the trail.

Paddling conditions to be expected:
The river is an easy paddle but some recommend that you time your canoe trip with the tide to assist you with the trip.

Difficulty of the trip:
Easy

Length of trip: 3 miles one way.

Portages:
1 easy portage around a dam.

Permits required:
None. There are restrictions in the spring and summer months between March 15 and Sept. 15 to protect the nesting area of the snowy plover.

Type of trip:
This can be a shuttle trip or a looping trip going out and back .

Other information:
Honeyman State Park (my recommendation) is approximately three miles to the north on Highway 101. Tyee campground(the closest) is on the east side of U.S. 101 at the turnoff for Siltcoos Lake and has a launch point of its own on the Siltcoos. On the west side of the highway are Waxmyrtle, Lagoon and Driftwood campgrounds.
