Ghost town of Lignite, Virginia

This is the only "true" ghost town in Virginia. Iron ore boom town formed in mid 1800's, had company store, churches, main street theatre, etc abandoned when ore business dropped.

There isn't much documented about Lignite on the 'net. However, a few URLs will show it's location.

Specifically the south west part of the quad (near Oriskany).

The best time to visit is in the spring when the daffodils are blooming in the forest. This will show you the location of former homes of the residents of Lignite.
