Cornish and West Devon Mining represents one of the longest histories of industrial heritage conservation in the world and is unique in being the first of its kind concerned with the mining and ore processing of tin and arsenic, together with copper and other industrial metals.
Morwellham is a former mining village and the Quay for Tavistock. Morwellham Quay became a thriving port with minerals which were shipped out all over the world. It is now restored as a museum and visitor centre based around the historic port and mine workings on the River Tamar.
At the time of my visit there was no entrance fee, this was due to various grants received, their website has not been updated. This could change in the future, best to phone before you visit.
