NOTE : to ride the Shafer Queen you must buy a entry to Indiana Beach which is $2.50. The coords are to the main gate .Then walk to the board walk and you will find the ticket booth for the Queen.
The Ride takes you up and down Lake Shafer. You see all the wonderful homes and cottages along the shore. You see the dam that started the lake. Then back to Indiana Beach.
Indiana Beach gained its first icon on the lake with the arrival of the Shafer Queen in 1961. A beautiful paddle wheeler, the Shafer Queen took guests on guided tours of the area surrounding Indiana Beach. The original Shafer Queen was retired in 1972 and became a lakeside restaurant known as The Pronto Princess. The new Shafer Queen was designed by master craftsman Bill Luse and began carrying passengers in 1973. Today, the Shafer Queen remains the largest regularly scheduled paddle wheel boat in Indiana.
The waters of Lake Shafer would never be complete without the majesty of the Shafer Queen paddle-wheeler.
The Shafer Queen is Indiana’s largest regularly scheduled paddle wheel driven sightseeing vessel. The Queen plies the waters of Lake Shafer on a daily schedule. All trips leave the Boardwalk dock at Indiana Beach Amusement Resort. Group rates available.
The Shafer Queen is a great place for all to relax. Offering a 30-minute ride or a 75-minute sightseeing excursion, the Shafer Queen is a favorite with seniors. Pay-One-Price, Combo, and Picnic Passes are always accepted for short trips and entitle bearer to purchase 1/2 price tickets for long trips.
