The Union Church is just a façade today, although a contributing structure to the Falmouth Historic District.

The current church was built in the 1820s on the foundation of an earlier church, which burned. As a 'union church' it was used by Baptists, Methodists, Presbyterians, and Episcopalians on a rotating basis. After being damaged in a storm in the 1950s, most of the building was torn down to salvage bricks.
Today, the church suffers from structural damage. Ruins of the belfry and cornice continue to rot or remain open to the elements. It is feared that the 1 ton bell which is still in its belfry will fall and cause considerable damage. Iron rods barely hold the structure together. Strong winds constantly blow off the deteriorated asphalt shingles.
It remains a focal point of Falmouth's historic past and a reminder for the need of preservation.
