Phi Gamma Delta fraternity was chartered in 1867. It ceased in 1878, and was revived in 1885. This fraternity house is located in the Galesburg Historic District which also includes Knox College which is located just two blocks south.
Knox College started as Knox Manual Labor College and was chartered in 1837. Knox was one of the first institutions to open to color and women. The founder of Knox College, George Washington Gale, was also the founder of Galesburg.
