No disrespect is meant, but this double meaning just caught my eye as I was searching for the historical marker in Mount Avon Cemetery. It is located just west of the entrance at Wilcox and West 2nd Streets.

Stiff is, of course, the family name of this departed soul.
Stiff is also slang for a dead body or corpse, derived from the rigidity that sets into the body from rigor mortis.
In Australia, stiff means someone out of luck or unfortunate. I don't know if that applies here.
According to dictionary.com, "stiff" has 28 meanings, making double meanings easy.
If your mind is not too stiff, you will understand the humor posed by this poor stiff (me) and not stiff me out of a new waymark about this poor Stiff.
