Construction of the edifice began on 8 June 1525 under the auspices of Bishop don Diego de Ribera and the architectural direction of Juan Gil de Hontanon. It was consecrated on 16 July 1768 by the acting Bishop of Segovia, don Juan Jose Martinez Escalzo.
The Cathedral of Segovia is defined by style and chronology as the last Gothic one, though the conception of space, the luminosity, and the volumes correspond more to a Renaissance aesthetic.
An admission of €3.00 is charged to gain access to the Cathedral.
