Edward 1st of England, construction starting in 1283, built this castle and it was part of the King's ring of Steel to subjugate the local population.
The first English pretender to the title ‘Prince of Wales’, Edward 2nd is said to have born at Caernarfon castle in 1284.
The castle houses a military museum, and there are regular guided tours. There is an admission fee for entry, however the castle can be enjoyed without entry.
