The World Peace Flame Monument is not technically a peace pole, but it is a pole for peace and carries the same message.

This monument represents the steps each person takes for peace. Bogong moths are shown being drawn to a flame by Ngunnawal artist Jim Williams. Bogong moths migrate through this area each year and were a traditional food source for local aboriginal people.

The pole has been situated in Glebe Park since 2001. It was a gift to the people of Canberra from the Life Foundation, 30th March 2001. There is a message on the plaque at the base of the pole that asks visitors to walk around the monument and make a wish.

The pole is inscribed with the following:
"May all beings be at peace" - in English on one side, and
"Om namoh bhagavate vasudevaya" - in Sanskrit on the other.

The translation is:
om — O my Lord; namoh? — offering my obeisances; bhagavate — unto the Personality of Godhead; vasudevaya — unto Vasudeva (the son of Vasudeva).
Languages: English & Sanskrit
