The largest museum within the Kremlin houses an astonishing collection of objects collected over many centuries by the Russian church, state and royalty.

The present Armoury Building, constructed in 1851, is located in the Kremlin's southwest corner. It houses a huge collection of objects. The gold and silver room displays many gold and silver liturgical items and jewelry, some pieces dating back to the 4th and 5th centuries. A textiles room contains liturgical and secular clothing including Catherine the Great's Coronation gown. Other royal regalia includes a collection of crowns and thrones among them the diamond encrusted throne made for Tsar Alexis in 1659. A carriage room houses a collection of state carriages and sleighs from the 16th to 18th centuries. Ten of the 60 known Faberge Eggs are here, the largest number in any public museum.

Hours of Operation: Tour groups in Moscow will usually include this museum. For those visiting on their own it requires an additional 300 ruble ticket, purchased at the same time as the 300 ruble general admission to the Kremlin. Hours generally are 10 to 4:30. The Armoury ticket will have a time of admission and tickets may sell out early in the day.
