Here is the John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge, which crosses from Ohio into Kentucky, over the Ohio River. It was hoped it would be a means for Union troops to cross over into Dixie, though the conflict delayed its completion till after the end of the war. The bridge was opened in 1867. After Roebling built this bridge, he went onto to design the Brooklyn Bridge. Dixie Highway used this bridge as part of its prior route. It is still used today and is one of Jewels in the Crown of the Queen City.
