This house built in 1858 is located in historic Galena, Illinois, directly across the street from the U.S. Grant House State Historic Site on Bouthillier Street. The home was originally built for Mr. Nelson Stillman, a prominent businessman in the city. Grant and many of his Generals were entertained at the home.
The mansion has 6,700 square feet of living space, 7 guest rooms, 3 innkeepers rooms, a full basement, parlor, 12 bathrooms and 11 fireplaces. It is now operated as a bed and breakfast called Bernadine's Stillman Inn.
