"Monument Pass, 17 miles south of the river, marks the north entrance to MONUMENT VALLEY, where maroon buttes and pinnacles rise, like skyscrapers, out of the red desert, and tower nearly a thousand feet above the valley floor. Between the monuments, distant ranges in Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona can be seen." -Utah: A Guide to the State, 1941

The co-ordinates are at an observation point. The main picture was taken from there. When I visited America this was a "must see" place. What a spectacular place. I wished I had spent more time there.
