Fort Wallace Cemetery is now part of the Wallace Township Cemetery. The Fort's cemetery is enclosed in a rock wall. Fort Wallace was the furthest west fort in Kansas and was in existence from 1865 until 1882. The cemetery was the burial site for soldiers who died while serving at Fort Wallace. In 1886 the military moved most of the soldiers remains to Fort Leavenworth. The cemetery has a memorial placed in 1867 by the soldiers from the fort honoring their fallen comrades. The cemetery including its rock wall has been restored.
