A dirty trick is played on King and Red Salmon here at this man made tidal pool on the Homer Spit. Fingerling Salmon are released here. They go out to sea, grow up and several years later come back to swim around the pool trying to find a stream for spawning. They are then fair game for the fisherpeople lining the banks of the pool.
The King Salmon run begins in early June and Red Salmon
come a bit later. Fish cleaning facilities are provided. Camping sites,RV parking facilites and tackle shops are nearby.
KP flyfished the site on June 7-8, 2005, using tackle too light for big Salmon but he had fun playing with them until the line broke.
Recommended tackle: Heavy enough to handle large fish.

Both spining and fly rods can be used. Most people bank fish but some wade.
