TheBeanTeam's Where's in a Name coordinates lead to the location where an amazing jet powered train achieved the fastest speed ever reached in North America by a train. Many thanks to 8Nuts MotherGoose for making this waymark possible.

The coordinates bring you to a spot along the Conrail (former New York Central Railroad Company) rail lines where the land speed record for a train was reached in 1966. The engine was a Budd RDC-3 passenger car numbered M-497 and it was propelled by two roof-mounted jet aircraft engines. The engineer has stated that the recorded, record speed of 183.85 miles per hour was measured after he had already begun to brake the train. This record is still the highest speed recorded on a railroad in North America.

A complete history of the historic event(in PDF form) including many excellent photographs of the event and area can be found at by visiting, The Flight of the M-497:(.pdf file 44 pages)
