This is Calgary's largest cemetery operation, and is where the Central Administration Office is located for all city cemeteries. The cemetery is 40 hectares in size and was opened in 1940.
There have been 51,557 burials as of 1997. More recent data could not be obtained.
In addition to corporate sponsorship for items such as the main sign, there are several companies that operate small buildings in the cemetery. The include internment and headstone services. There are also a few within a couple of city blocks as well.
The cemetery is a quiet place to reflect and a bike path through it connects several city parks.
Sections devoted to various religions or cultures can be found as well as a veterans section.
