This highly stylized 5-piece jazz band stands on the corner of Indianapolis's most famous jazz spot - Indiana Avenue. It represents 5 jazz players who were important to the African-American sculptor - John Spaulding. The guitar player is his father James R. Spaulding. The saxophone player is his older brother James Spaulding Jr. The trumpet player is Freddie Hubbard. The drummer is "Killer" Ray Appleton, and the bass player is Larry Ridley. This is only about 1 block away from one of my other waymarks by this same sculptor "Jammin on the Avenue" - a sculpture/fountain made from musical instruments. You may want to check that out too.
Please take a photo of the band for your log.
