There are only 7 remaining observation posts on the Okehampton range, there used to be 23, some of the others have been removed as they were made redundant. The purpose of the OP’s is for the military personnel to observe the live firing. They are made from granite stone and turf the modern ones are lined with steel. Op15 is the best known OP's as this is a favorite parking place for walkers.
