Dinosaur Park was built in the 1930's by the WPA as a tourist attraction. Its location, high on a hill overlooking Rapid City, is a great place to view the city from, especially at night.

This fun, kitschy park that is listed on the National Historic Register is also a wonderful place to view the city from. The park is located on the top a peak adjacent to the downtown area of Rapid City. The views are great during the day, but we went back at night and with the eerie silouettes of the dinosaurs, it was even better.
You can drive most of the way to the top, but there is a steep set of stairs that you will need to climb to get up to the dinosaurs and the view.
