New Haven pizza is awesome. So good, that on a Saturday night you could wait a couple hours to get a seat. Thin crust, brick oven pizza, with slightly burned edges, piled with chunks of toppings. For me it is perfection.
For many years, 30+ years, Pepe's Pizza was my favorite. For a celebration pizza party, a friend said that we should go to Modern. "We have too many people to get seats." This was nine years ago. If we had that party today, we'd have to go somewhere else. Yesterday, the pizza was just as delicious as the first time I ate there.
Modern Apizza has won the New Haven Advocate Readers Poll (
visit link) nine years in a row. "Whatever" you say? New Haven pizza (Pepe's, Sally's, The Bar, Zupardi's...) is so good that you might not EVER think about eating a 'chain' pizza again.
