The Finger Lakes Trail stretches 562 miles from Allegany State Park in southwest New York State, through the Finger Lakes of central New York, and into the Catskill Mountains in the southeast. The FLT is also part of the much larger North Country National Scenic Trail, which stretches from the Adirondacks through 9 states to North Dakota.
This trail register can be found in the middle of Watkins Glen State Park, near the road crossing of Whites Hollow Road. The register consists of a spiral notebook inside of a wood box with a fabric cover to protect it from the elements. A log in the register from about a week before my visit was from someone doing a through-hike of the FLT. About 1/4 mile west on the trail is a nice, flat open area perfect for setting up camp for the night.
