The Cullinan Mine (Formerly Premier Mine) was established in 1902 and rose to fame in 1905 when World's largest gem (3 600 carat), the Cullinan Diamond was discovered. The mining operations are still ongoing and huge diamonds are thought to be still waiting to be found.

The posted coordinates are to a viewpoint of a large opencast pit of the mine, the pit is about 1 km in length, more than half km wide and about half km at deepest point
