Construction on the building began in 1933 and served as the Hamilton passenger service of the TH&B (Toronto Hamilton & Buffalo) Railway Company. It is supposed to be the only example of Art Deco train station architecture in Canada. Some years ago when the TH&B went out of existance the station's activities as a train station greatly diminished. Things looked bleak for several years until the new GO rapid transit commuter service opened up from Toronto to Hamilton. As the Hamilton terminus for GO, the station was completely restored to it's original splendor inside and out.
