west coast landmark, the Ocean Beach Fishing Pier is always busy with people fishing. Built in 1966 and measuring 1,971 feet, the pier juts out into the beautiful Pacific surf in the historic and picturesque Ocean Beach district of San Diego.

There is dispute about the OB Pier's claim to fame. A posted sign says it is the longest pier on the west coast; Wikipedia says it is the second longest, and other references state it is the longest concrete pier in the world.



Whatever the case may be, at 1,971 feet it is quite a hike out to the end (where there is a geocache).
