I have decided to waymark this building because of the rather unusual granite pillars which have remained unspoilt to this day. The building has been a shop for many years, but has had many uses over the years, a blue plaque to attached to the building and reads:
“ The Corn Market was erected by the Duke of Bedford in 1835 on the site of the Green Dragon Inn. Between 1913 and 1937 it had a second life as the town’s first cinema. It was renovated by Wessex Heritage in 1992”.
