On February 23, 1925 a Climax locomotive raced out of control down the tracks toward Holder Creek on Tiger Mountain. The locomotive, belonging to the Wood & Iverson logging company derailed near the location of a bridge spanning the small creek. One man, Nick Karis, was killed but others including the engineer were able to jump to safety. Pieces of the train and twisted track are still there to see.
